“This club is a very big family”

“It must be the tenth LUB that I play and being on this team for which I have so much affection, they have treated me great, I have been able to play how I like and how I wanted. They always behaved barbarically, I never lacked anything. I am very happy with the group there is ” Angel Varela said that he made a nice mention of the World Cup club.

He told us how they prepared this match against Defensor Sporting: “We did an express training, without rest. The practices are long and strong, always aiming at the rival in front of us. We were not surprised at all and we did not have many friendlies, we only played against Welcome. At the beginning we realized that we had the level of staying with the game ”.

Varela continued explaining where he thinks the advantages were: “The advantage goes through our strong defense and the intensity that we have. They are a very agile team with a lot of outside goal and they have a good sequence to go to the basket. We had several minutes without a goal, they put the game on the post, they hurt us and we are a lower team. We were always able to set the pace of the game and that was important, everything happens from the defense, we ran the court and forced them to make fouls ”.

Also, he added the work they did to keep the game: “The triple that falls just over the end is very important. We continued with the streak of not scoring. We had to rotate to an area because they were carrying us inside and there was less and less to finish. The important thing was that it occurred to us that we had a streak towards the end.
