The United States took note of what happened to them at the 2019 China World Cup, where he presented a squad without several of the main figures of the NBA and ended up falling to seventh place, a location that also allowed him to secure a ticket to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games by being the second best American team, only behind Argentina (He was runner-up, falling against Spain in the final).

While Stephen Curry and LeBron James (preferred to focus on recovering their physique and promote Space Jam 2, a film in which he will star alongside the Looney tunes) will not go to the territory nippon, Gregg Popovich made a real Dream team to go in search of the fourth consecutive gold, after celebrating in Beijing 2008, London 2012 and Rio 2016.
