The Che García seems to be the one who stings in point as the main candidate. The historic 56-year-old coach comes from leading the San Lorenzo champion of the last National League, in addition to having coached in Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Uruguay, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Brazil and the Dominican Republic. Currently, he is without equipment.
The other candidate is Prigioni, who comes from being one of Oveja Hernández’s assistants at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Beyond the fact that the job of the national team coach is part time, the truth is that his work as an NBA coach with the Minnesota Timberwolves may present a snag. It’s that American league season starts in October and Argentina’s first engagement is in November, in what will be the first window of the Qualifier on 2023 Philippines-Japan-Indonesia World Cup.
There is a third way, almost as an emergency plan in case the two main options fall, and that is to keep the current coaching staff, with Silvio Santander as the team’s main coach.
