The show starts! NBA season 75

The NBA, the best basketball league in the world, is celebrating its anniversary this year, commemorating the 75th edition of the American tournament. This onomastic is joined by that flavor of the show that is so popular on the other side of the Atlantic. The season will begin with a high-voltage game: the Milwaukee Bucks against the Phoenix Suns; that is, the current champions of the NBA ring against the finalists. Both teams are favorites to be crowned at the end of the year, although there are other teams with a good share in Las Vegas NBA linessuch as the Los Angeles Lakers, the Brooklyn Nets and the Golden State Warriors, among other aspiring groups.

In the absence of final closure of the different squads of all the clubs, the current champions once again set sail as true candidates for the title, having their star, the Greek Giannis Antetokounmpo, ultimately the last winner of the MVP trophy (the Player Most Valuable of the finals). Not only do they keep their star, but the group has hardly undergone any variation, which gives them an added competitiveness compared to the rest of the applicants, whose structures have yet to be defined and assembled. The Milwaukee Bucks are the true favorites of the Eastern Conference, although we must not ignore the potential of the Brooklyn Nets (with Kevin Durant at the helm) and the Philadelphia Sixers. We will see its journey, which, for the moment, begins with the controversy starring two of its stars, Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons. The first is reluctant to be vaccinated against Covid-19, this being an essential requirement to contest the championship; and the second does not seem to want to continue wearing the Sixers jersey.

First season without Pau Gasol

Apart from the Phoenix Suns, the list of favorites is headed by Lebron James’ Los Angeles Lakers, who have been reinforced by signing point guard Russell Westbrook and keeping their strong man in the area, Anthony Davis, on the roster. Their California neighbors, the Los Angeles Clippers, will be looking to sign their last season without the play-off blur. The former champions, the Golden State Warriors return to the scene recovering one of their pillars, guard Klay Thompson, who will join the group led by Stephen Curry. In a lower echelon are the Denver Nuggets of Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic and the Dallas Mavericks of Luka Doncic. And the surprise? Maybe it could fall to the Miami Heat, who have been reinforced well with DeMar DeRozan, Nikola Vucevic, Lonzo and Zach LaVine. It will be necessary to see how they interpenetrate on a basketball court.

This 75th anniversary season will be a bit strange for the Spanish, since we will not even see Pau Gasol (He recently announced his goodbye to basketball) or Marc Gasol, whose future is a mystery. In this way, the focus will be on Ricky Rubio, in his new adventure with the Cleveland Cavaliers (a franchise in the process of rebuilding); in Willy Hernangómez, in the Pelicans; Juancho Hernangómez with his position in the historic Boston Celtics; and in two rookies in the NBA: ex-Madrid player Usman Garuba (Houston) and Santi Aldama (Memphis), whose future is yet to be defined, since it is not yet known if they will have a gap in the templates of their franchises or will have to be tanned in the development leagues.
