The San Francisco Pan American Maxi Basketball champion – DiarioSports – San Francisco

It was in the 11th edition of the Pan American Maxibasketball Championship in the city of Paraná. Javier Giletta was crowned after beating Chile in the +40 Category in the very final.


The tournament took place from Friday the 18th to this Saturday afternoon in the Entre Ríos capital of Paraná, María Grande, Crespo and Viale. There were 135 teams (40 from abroad) from 14 countries and more than 2,500 people.

The international competition had eight different host clubs, as well as sub-hosts in nearby towns. Its Organizing Committee was the International Maxibasketball Federation (FIMBA) together with the Women’s Maxibasketball Federation of Argentina (FFEMAR) and the Maxibasquet Suricatas Civil Association.

This Saturday was the closing in the city of Paraná with the defining matches that were played on the Zionista and Ciclista fields. The categories that took part were the following: Men More 30-35; Plus 40, Plus 45; Plus 50; Plus 55; Plus 60; Plus 65; Plus 70; Plus 75-80 and in Women Plus 40-35-30; Plus 45; Plus 50; Plus 55; Over 60 and Over 65-70.

In over 40, Javier Giletta from San Francisco joined the Argentina-Santa Fe team that ended up becoming champions by beating Chile 92-77 in the final. Giletta is the current president of Club Atlético Almagro de Esperanza, an institution in which he was a player and Previously a member of the board of directors.

The team from Santa Fe began by beating Argentina “C”, from Bahía Blanca, 93-82; to then overcome the team that came from Brazil, 68-55; and later defeated Mexico, 80-57, to thus access the decisive stage, winning the qualifying phase undefeated.

In the Semifinal they got the victory over Argentina “B”, by Comodoro Rivadavia, 79-68. And in the Final, bordering on a great level, the Argentina-Santa Fe team defeated Chile, by a clear 92 to 77, unleashing the great celebration.
