The students of the German School of Puerto Varas, who represent the men’s basketball team Sub 14 of the Los Lagos Region, won the National School Final of the School Sports Games (JDE) that took place in Concepción.
A well-deserved victory was achieved by the young athletes who faced off against the team from the Metropolitan Region represented by the students of Colegio Lincoln de Huechuraba, where Los Lagos was crowned champion of the contest scoring 63 points against 59.
The winning team also stood out with three individual awards, Francisco Saravia was chosen as the best Support Base and also won the trophy for the Best Player of the championship. Likewise, Mathias Hitschfeld was chosen the best Forward of the contest and both players were in the ideal quintet of this National.
“It is a historic achievement for our school, for the first time we managed to qualify for a JDE national school and obtaining this victory is impressive. Fruit of the work, of many hours of training and of being able to have a very united group. They are all friends and that is very favorable to face this type of championships that are very competitive, especially in the final stages” said Florencio Vargas, DSPV coach.
With this achievement, the German School of Puerto Varas qualifies to represent our country in the South American School that will take place in December in Brazil.

The German School of Puerto Varas won the Sub 14 Regional Basketball Championship at the San Javier School in Puerto Montt, in which a triangular match was played between the Liceo Bicentenario de Ancud, the San Mateo de Osorno School and the German School from Puerto Varas.
