Superliga: Sportsmen won the ticket to the final home run on a night with local basketball

The final homerun of the Super League continues to fill the boxes. Sportsmen Unidos beat Echesortu 74-70 on Sunday night as a visitor, closed the playoff series 2-0 and secured their place in the title fight alongside Atalaya and Timbúes. The remaining member of the final home run will come out of the clash that Unión and Progreso are holding against Temperley, and that opened with a victory for those led by Néstor Gnass by 74 to 68.

But returning to the clash played in Echesortu, the hand of Freddy Cano was once again noticed to complicate the game for Sportsmen, and the sacrifice of his young team to follow the game plan and not suffer categorical bumps like the one that generated the defeat last Wednesday as visitors.

Although he started with a low effectiveness, little by little the triples of the home dream appeared to equalize the score to a Sportsmen determined to attack the rim and aware that he did not have to give anything away if he wanted to secure his place in the final home run.

The game interspersed dominance, was high voltage near the rim, and found in the scoring of Cingolani (15) and Dalpino (14) the cards to open the game. But Sbarra (15) took over as leader and spearheaded the homeowner’s comeback, which forced a very tight and exciting finish.

A Tripelli bomb and a couple of interventions by Dalpino and Rodríguez gave Sportsmen the air he needed, while Echesortu was forced to press, cut and play against the inexorable downward gait of the clock. But there was no feat of the young local team, and it was the boys of the Green who managed to secure their passage to the fight for the title.

Those of Le Bihan score a victory of the important ones and return to a definition plane of a local contest, while Echesortu closes another season in which he did a lot while spending little and relied on the work of the people of the club. Merit of Cano, Sbarra and company.
