Santiago Vescovi’s Tennessee flattened East Tennessee State at home for its second NCAA victory.

For a new day of college basketball in the United States faced Tennessee and East Tennessee State. The former came from debuting with a home win against Tennessee Martin, while the latter from falling in overtime to Appalachian State as a visitor. Rick Barnes presented a quintet made up of Santiago Vescovi, Kennedy Chandler, Josiah-Jordan James, Olivier Nkamhoua and John Fulkerson. For their part, those commanded by Desmond Oliver took to the field with Jordan King, David Sloan, Ledarrius Brewer, Tyron Brewer and Silas Adheke.

The match played at the Thompson-Boling Arena presented a clearly favorable start to the local team, which with a good offensive contribution from Kennedy Chandler and Oliver Nkamhoua, managed to open a premature advantage of thirteen units (24-11). Little by little, the visiting team was improving, especially on the defensive side. Led by an inspired Ledarrius Brewer, those from Johnson City placed a 9-2, which gave them the chance to narrow the difference in the score. However, those from Knoxville regained control of the actions, being important to this the figures of Josiah-Jordan James and John Fulkerson, the first on the perimeter and the second in the paint.

At the beginning of the second half, the homeowner was at the forefront in the electronic in figures from 46 to 23. In the first bars of the complement, a procedure similar to that of the closing of the initial stage could be observed, with a team that was widely superior to its rival. The Volunteers continued to have Chandler and Nkamhoua as their main offensive exponents, who were well accompanied by Vescovi and Bailer Jr. The Buccaneers continued to suffer on defense, while on the other side they depended excessively on what Jordan King could do. The final minutes were to spare and only served to decorate the result. Ultimately, Tennessee was left with the triumph 94-62 and thus added his second victory in the same number of presentations.

In the winner the figure of Oliver Nkamhoua stood out, who contributed 23 points and 8 rebounds, seconded by Kennedy Chandler with 16 points and 6 assists. On the loser’s side, Jordan King finished as his team’s top scorer with 20 points.

Uruguayan point guard Santiago Vescovi scored 7 points (1/7 triples and 2/4 doubles), caught 4 rebounds, distributed 2 assists and stole 3 balls in the 24 minutes that he remained on the court, reaching a total valuation of 5.

The next match for our compatriot’s team will be on Saturday, when they have to face Villanova in neutral territory.
