Based on information collected and analyzed that had been working with clear guidelines by personnel from the Directorate of Investigations and the Department of Complex Crimes and Human Trafficking of the Police Headquarters, on people who were carrying out smuggling maneuvers, crossing from the coasts of the neighboring country by the Uruguay River illegal merchandise in boats and arriving in Salto on the shores of the Las Viudas stream where once there they were waiting for vehicles to unload and transship the packages, so they proceeded to carry out tasks according to observation and surveillance at different strategic points, together with personnel from the Tactical Reserve Group (GRT) and the Departmental Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Unit (UDEVANT), all in coordination with the acting Prosecutor’s Office. On the other hand, raids were also carried out on farms in the Arenitas Blancas area as well as in other parts of the city. Yesterday, once the proceedings were completed in the Fourth Shift Criminal and Adolescent Law Court, it ordered: to convict JEAV, as the perpetrator responsible for a continuing crime of smuggling aggravated to a sentence of 2 years and 4 months in prison. effective; to EMAR, as the perpetrator responsible for a continuing crime of contraband aggravated in a regimen of real reiteration with a crime and theft of electricity to the penalty of 2 years and 6 months of effective prison; to ESDCB, and to CGDG, as perpetrators responsible for a crime of receiving the penalty of 12 months in prison; condemning RMOO, and LVOS, as perpetrators responsible for a continuing crime of smuggling to a penalty of 24 months in prison and condemning CNSC, as the perpetrator responsible for a crime of smuggling, to a penalty of 12 months in prison, replacing Freedom to Evidence (Law No. 19,889) consisting of its obligations in: A).
