The basketball game, the first of a doubleheader, was about to start.

*

The teacher was ready, as usual, to begin describing what was going to happen on the court.

*

Then, he surprises the rookie companion and tells him: “The next game is going to be narrated by you.”

*

But, “I have never narrated basketball, I have never narrated a game,” replied the commentator caught up in a bundle of nerves.

*

“Sit next to me and pay attention to what I do and say at every moment of the game,” the teacher replied firmly.

*

Almost breathing on top of the teacher, the student followed the masterful way as he described the battle that was being fought on the little table.

*

As the end of the first match neared, the rookie rookie “storyteller” head was filled with thoughts.

*

“You’re going to do well, but then don’t saw my club,” said the teacher with a smile, seeking to take pressure off and bring confidence.

*

The rookie “narrator” surprised many in the surroundings, when he raised his voice to shout Jump to the Center!

*

When the first half ended and the novice “narrator” stood up gasping for air, the teacher patted him accompanied by these words, “I told you you could”.

*

After the two games were over, the student went to take the teacher to his destination at the Camino Real Hotel, where they stayed for a long time talking in Las Nubes, one teaching and the other learning.

*

This is how the immense Roosevelt Comarazamy led me to narrate my first game in the Superior Basketball of Santiago.

*

Roosevelt will arrive quickly at the feet of the Lord, because he goes light with luggage, he does not take anything with him, because it is not what he carries, but what he sowed on his earthly path.

*

Roosevelt Comarzamy’s soul can fly as high as it can, but on land it leaves a seedbed of students, proud of its teachings. Bye teacher!

SQUEEZE PLAY: The papacy of John Paul I lasted only 33 days…Is it a long time until February 27?…The Rookie of the Year award obtained by Julio Rodríguez shows that you learn to play by playing…The Mariners did not put any restrictions JRod…They let him play baseball…He played pressure baseball and there’s the result…JRod played all the qualifiers looking to qualify for the Dominican Republic…We remember how he played in Mexico…Then he won in Japan and helped win the bronze medal… With that shoe, he reached the Major Leagues and we all know what he did to deserve Rookie of the Year… All those merits make JRod deserving of a gigantic recognition from the government and the Dominican people… About what we were saying about the “perreo” The former player, Domingo Ramos, contributes that the term comes from the players of Hogs Dogs in English, Perros Calientes in Spanish… He told me “My Tarnished Crystal Ball”, that Pinkerton founded the first detective agency in Chicago. The motto was: We never sleep…For today, out 27.
