Phoenix Suns gain momentum with third win in a row

The Phoenix Suns gain momentum at the start of the season by reaping their third consecutive victory over the Houston Rockets by 111 to 123. Guard Devin Booker led the pack with 27 points, 5 assists and 9 rebounds; followed by Landry Shamet, who had 19 points off the bench.

Those of Arizona went to rest behind on the scoreboard (61-56); however, a devastating 25-37 partial in the third period allowed them to turn the game around. With this new victory they are placed with a positive record in the West with a 4-3.

«There was the impetus, the fans and there is our youth. They pounced on us like a hurricane and it was very difficult for us to regroup after that, “admitted rival coach Stephen Silas.

Other local highlights were Chris Paul with 13 assists, 5 rebounds and 5 steals; and reserves Cameron Johnson and JaVale McGee with 12 and 11 points respectively.

The center, who has only played seven games with the Suns, has already become one of the fans’ favorites, and his contribution to both sides of the court was key during the third quarter.

“Defensively, he’s a very big guy,” Monty Williams noted. “He’s long and athletic, and his ability to change shots, even if he can’t block them, helps us a lot,” he added.

In the young Rockets, their entire starting five added double-digit scoring figures. Kevin Porter Jr. was the top exponent with 20 points; Christian Wood had a double-double (18 points and 15 rebounds); Jalen Green (16); Jaesean Tate (14) and the rookie Alperen Sengun closed with 10.

Texans are currently penultimate in the table at 1-7; and they have six straight losses and five in their direct confrontations with the Phoenix Suns.
