The Argentine Confederation (CAB) confirmed this afternoon the hiring of Pablo Prigioni as coach of the Argentine team, replacing Néstor ‘Che’ García, who resigned on Tuesday.
“Pablo Prigioni becomes the new coach of the Senior Men’s National Team for the AmeriCup and the FIBA windows,” the CAB announced on its social networks, leaving the door open for the Cordovan’s to be a ‘short’ contract.
Prigioni, 45, will also continue to be linked to the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves, where he is assistant coach Chris Finch.

The native of Río Tercero, a member of the “Golden Generation” of Argentine basketball, will make his debut in the AmeriCup (Copa América), which begins this Friday in Recife, Brazil.
Prigioni has already arrived in Brazilian territory and stated: “My feeling for the national team is very great, as is my commitment to this group,” said the former New York Knicks, Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers player in the world’s top basketball competition .
