The BSN could add another exponent of urban music for the 2022 season. This would be the case if conversations between the artist Ozuna and the management of the Indios de Mayagüez about a possible deal to buy and sell the franchise prosper.
The information made public on Facebook by the Acción Deportiva page was confirmed at Primera Hora by the team’s attorney-in-fact, Carlos Acosta, who was short of time when contacted by phone as he was boarding a plane but affirmed the subject of the conversations.
“We are in dialogue. There is nothing final. In the next ones we will be clearer ”, said Acosta regarding the conversations with the artist whose real name is Juan Carlos Ozuna Rosado.
From Ozuna entering the league he would join Bad Bunny and Anuel AA, and their respective producers Noah Asad and Frabián Elí, who entered last year to manage the Cangrejeros de Santurce and Capitanes de Arecibo, respectively. It remains to be seen if Ozuna would enter the BSN together with his producing partners.
The entry of artists to the Board of Directors was a success for the BSN last season. Their reach with the public was noticed in the assists to the fields, in addition to the fact that the mention of their names together with the BSN was a promotion for the league, not to mention the economic capital that they are capable of contributing. These also gave a boost to the BSN with its impact on social networks.
The Indians played 13-19 in 2021 and failed to qualify for the postseason. They had two managers, including veteran Flor Meléndez, and at the end of the calendar they had former NBA player Mario Chalmers as one of their reinforcements.
Meanwhile, if sold, the Indians would be the second team sold in the offseason. Days ago, the sale of the Pirates of Quebradillas to the American real estate investor and businessman Dion New was confirmed.
Like New, Ozuna would need to be approved as the new manager of the team, just as José “Cheo” Rivera was approved last December as the new holder of the Atléticos de San Germán franchise.
