Power forward Luis Scola, captain and most important reference of the Argentina basketball team, with more than 20 years in the team and two Olympic medals, gold in Athens 2004 and bronze in Beijing 2008, leads the squad of 12 players announced today by the coach Sergio Hernandez for the Tokyo Olympics.
“Sheep” Hernández revealed the list of the national team in Las Vegas, where the team carried out the set-up before leaving in the next few hours for Tokyo, with the expected appointments and three cuts that will miss the Games: Máximo Fjellerup, Juan Fernández and Lautaro Berra, and with nine of the 12 who participated in the 2019 World Cup played in China.
The three who were not world runners-up two years ago and are now joining are Juan Pablo Vaulet, Leandro Bolmaro and Francisco Cáffaro.

The Argentine delegation will travel this afternoon to Japan with 22 people, by the quota indicated by the Japanese government and the Olympic Games. The 12 players chosen, Hernández, his four assistants (Silvio Santander, Gabriel Piccato, Juan Gatti and Maxi Seigorman), two kinesiologists (Leandro Amigo and Paulo Maccari), a physical trainer (Manuel Alvarez), a doctor (Juan Dere) and a propilero (Facundo Vartanian). Of that delegation, 20 will be in the Olympic village and two assistants outside.
