Mexico City, Oct 1 (EFE) .- The fire that occurred on Wednesday night at the famous Baby’O nightclub, located in the Mexican resort of Acapulco, in the south of the country, was caused by fuel spilled into the interior, reported this Friday the Guerrero State Attorney General’s Office.
In a statement, the Prosecutor’s Office stated this Friday that it has promptly followed up on the facts related to the investigation folder initiated for the crime of damage committed inside the nightclub, located on the coastal area of the popular resort.
“According to the expert reports, it is established that said fire was caused with fuel spilled into the building,” the institution said.
Regarding the information contained in the video recording system, he said that it was handed over to the Public Ministry this Friday “with severe physical damage (useless).”
However, the legal representatives of the company Discoteca Baby’O and producciones San Javier, also delivered some fragments of “supposed videos” in an external storage memory, which will also be analyzed by expert services, “without knowing their origin and temporality” .
The Prosecutor’s Office indicated for now that it conducts interviews with witnesses who could contribute elements about the events that occurred and regretted that “both the video recordings and some evidence are first leaked to the media” and then reach the institution.
The above, after this Friday different media published a video with images of the moment of the fire.
This same Friday, the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, said, in his daily conference, that in the daily meeting with his security cabinet the issue was raised and he accepted that “more research is needed, because there is still no it’s clear what happened. “
“Of course, a great publicity about the case, because it turns out that it is a famous nightclub that has been attended by personalities from the artistic world,” said the president from the state of Morelos, where he moved on a work tour .
He pointed out that it is a fire “that cannot be attributed to organized crime without evidence, because even the owner spoke that he was never extorted.”
And he added that “it is a matter of insecurity and non-payment of the floor, as extortion is colloquially called, and we have to wait.”
He recalled that the nightclub is insured and had been closed for 18 months due to the pandemic.
“It is striking that the fire occurs not in the main part or in the front, but in the back and in the front is where the cameras are,” said López Obrador.
