Mensía shines in Argentine basketball

Cuban Yoanki Mensía has excelled in the first matches of Comodoro Rivadavia’s Gimnasia y Esgrima team in the Super 20 tournament of the Argentine National Basketball League.

The Spaniard scored 18 points in his last outing on the pitch, but could not prevent his team’s defeat by 60-78 when visiting Boca Junior at the Luis Conde stadium in the Argentine capital during the fourth date of the contest.

Before, in three games won, the Antillean had among his own the best average of points per game with 23.5 in addition to capturing 18 rebounds, according to data published on the competition’s website.

Those led by Martin Villagrán lost the undefeated of the Southern Conference in the so-called Bombonerita, where Leonel Schattman had his great night for the home team with 25 points and excellent marksmanship by scoring seven of the 11 field goals, including four triples.
