Madrid lowers expectations about the return of the public to the stadiums

The Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, announced this Thursday that from next season fans will be able to return to the football stadiums and basketball halls. “We return to normality in terms of the influx of public to our stadiums,” he commented, emphasizing that now it will be the autonomous communities that decide the restrictions that are applied in the venues according to the epidemiological evolution of each region.

Therefore, and Unlike what has happened this past season, it will be the regional governments and not the Higher Sports Council who decide the conditions for the return of the public to stadiums and pavilions.

In this sense, the Community of Madrid has referred this Friday in the press conference to said announcement and unlike what was expressed by Health yesterday, from the Madrid Executive have lowered the expectation about the back to the stadiums. “I do not know if we are yet to fill football stadiums with a Delta variant that will be 90% in August and the league begins on that date ”, commented Antonio Zapatero, Deputy Minister of Health of the Community of Madrid.

“You have to be very cautious, the virus is still here, this is not over. We have a fight that will take us months ”, has added the regional vice-minister of Health. Likewise, Zapatero has been in favor of recovering “our social life prior” to the pandemic, but has asked calm down to carry out a protocol back to the stadiums that will take a while to arrive in Madrid.

The protocol will be done almost at the beginning of LaLiga

“It will be necessary to see how we are of cases in August. We have time to see how it evolves and see the number of cases that we have. It will have to be done with measure. We still have two months to go ”, he explained.

Therefore, Real Madrid, Atlético, Getafe, Rayo Vallecano, Leganés, Fuenlabrada, Alcorcón, the basketball section of Real Madrid and Urbas Fuenlabrada will still have to wait, in Zapatero’s words, until practically the start of both LaLiga Santander and LaLiga Smartbank and the Endesa League to see how and in what quantity their fans return to their stadiums and pavilions.
