Lobas de Aguascalientes and the Chihuahuan basketball player from Camargo, Ingrid Martínez Treviño, were crowned the new champions of the 2021 season of the Mexican League of Professional Women’s Basketball (LMBPF) by defeating the team of Mieleras from Guanajuato and Ivana Gutiérrez, originally from Delicias.
In the duel number 4 of the final phase, the match took place in Guanajuato with the pressure for the Mieleras, since they were down in the series by 2-1, and which turned out to be very disputed, since it had to be decided in overtime to bring the final score from 83 points to 71.
Each of the 4 regular time periods were played at high intensity, because when going to the halftime break, the cards were partially 36-35 favorable to the Lobas, while the remaining quarters played had the same trend at the leaving partials of 14-15 in the third period and the fourth with 13-13 to end both teams tied at 63 points per side.
The champions, with the Chihuahuan in their ranks Ingrid Martínez Treviño, had to withstand the pressure of the locals; the tie forced the extra time to be played to define this year’s champion, which the Wolves achieved by taking off in this period with partial numbers of 20-8 to finally leave the scoreboard 83-71.
They stood out on the offensive for the current monarchs, Hazel Ramírez with 22 units; Iulia Gladkova with 17 points and Oumoul Sarr with 15, while on the contrary the best were: Miriam Lara with 19 points and Jaterra Bonds with 14.
In this meeting, neither Ingrid for the champions nor Ivana for the runners-up had action on the floor, and they had to support their teammates from the bench, even so the Camarguense was happy and satisfied for having been part of this team that is crowned in the 2021 tournament.
