The ABE League is very close to returning to activity after holding its extraordinary congress at the UPAEP facilities, where a date has been set to start the 2022 season, which would be March 4.

Jair Olando, president of the University Basketball League such as the ABE and the person in charge of sports at UPAEP, Juan Manuel Aguirre Langle, were present at this announcement.

In the first place, Jair Olano explained that this meeting, which was held in a hybrid manner, had the objective of reaching an agreement to be able to return to activity, to propose two or three competition systems with the intention of covering the different situations that institutions experience. participants

“The competition systems were made for the first division and the second division. In the first division, two forms were proposed: one is round robin among all the universities or do it by zones as a second option. The first step is for them to confirm their participation and then we will choose the system”.

The leader expressed that they established that next February 10 is the deadline for confirmation of the participation of that institution, a couple of days later they would meet to schedule and a possible start is for the first week of March, probably 4 or 5 of March.

“In the scheduling meeting, the testing schedule will be carried out and we will establish the health protocols for players and team staff. coaching. The possibility of canceling the season is latent, but let’s hope we don’t get to that point, all the institutions intend to participate, all with the issue of consulting with their authorities, so we see a restart as very possible.”

For its part, the host institution of the extraordinary congress of the ABE League, the UPAEP, expressed that they are fully willing to participate, without losing sight of the fact that if the situation worsens again, that would change the plans.
