Kevin Durant wants to leave the Nets: he has requested the change

ANDhe super team that never was is about to come to an end. Hours before the start of free agency, Kevin Durant and their representatives have asked the Brooklyn Nets for a tradeaccording to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

The news comes a couple of days after Kyrie Irving will activate his option to return to the Nets for another year. The point guard said he didn’t want to leave his friend in Brooklyn, but now KD has asked to leave the team.

Durant came to the Nets in the summer of 2019, after tear Achilles tendon with the Warriors. That same summer, Kyrie also arrived in Brooklyn, but they did not play together until the 20/21 season for KD recovery.

In January 2021, James Harden arrived in Brooklyn being traded by the Rockets and they were heavy favorites for the title, before ‘The Beard’ and Kyrie were injured in the second round series against the Bucks. Durant almost single-handedly won the series, by millimeters hitting the arc on what would have been the game-winning shot, before losing Game 7 in overtime.

For the 21/22 season, the Nets were the top favorites for the title, despite the fact that the New York state laws prevented Irving from playing at home because he was not vaccinated. They were the best team in the East before Durant suffered an ankle injury that blew it all away: Harden asked for the change and went to the 76ersnoting Irving’s lack of commitment. With Durant and Kyrie, the Nets came back to sneak into the Playoffs, being seventh, but they were swept in the first round by the Celtics.

That’s where the rumors of the future began, especially if Kyrie would return. He did, but it doesn’t appear to be enough to keep Durant, who is looking to leave three years after he arrived in Brooklyn.
