The National Finals of the Argentine University Games (JUAR) are coming to an end in Mar del Plata and, on this third day of competitions, the teams from the National University of La Matanza (UNLaM) won medals in different disciplines.
The 3×3 basketball teams reached the gold medals. The boys beat the Universidad Nacional del Centro (UNICEN) in the semifinal by 17-14 and, in the final, they beat the National University of Hurlingham by 20-19. The girls, for their part, defeated the Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata (UNMDP) by 17 to 7 and surpassed the National University of San Martín (UNSAM) by 21 to 10.
Men’s volleyball lost to the National University of Córdoba in the semifinal, 2-1, and beat the University of Buenos Aires, also 2-1, to obtain bronze. The girls, for their part, defeated UNSAM, in straight sets, and will play for gold against the National University of Tucumán.
In women’s rugby 7, the Búhas thrashed the Universidad Nacional del Sur 39-0 and in the last match they lost to the National University of Catamarca, champions, 19-5.
On the tennis side, both teams won their bronze medal matches.
The women’s handball fell in the quarterfinals with the National University of Comahue by 17-16. The boys surpassed that instance against the National University of the Northeast, by 31-23, and this Friday they will play the final with the National University of José C . Peace.
Men’s hockey lost to the National University of La Pampa, 1-0, and this Friday they will play for bronze against ISEF Antonio Álvarez, from Corrientes. The girls, meanwhile, beat UNICEN 1-0 in the quarterfinals and achieved the same result, in the semifinals, against UNMDP, so this Friday they will face the National University of Rosario.
In soccer, El Verde drew 1-1 with UNICEN and, on penalties, they celebrated 3-2. This Friday they will play against the National University of La Pampa.
