“I recognize that in training I would like to play”

Básquet Total went to the Bella Vista neighborhood to chat with the Auriblanco coach, Andrés “cacho” Jones, who will make his debut as a coach in the men’s majors.

Do you miss wearing the shorts?

The truth is I thought it was going to cost me more, but I get along well. I recognize that at some point in training I would like to play.

How important is it for you, who are still developing as a coach, to have a team that looks like one of the candidates?

It’s very important. It is my first experience in older men and having formed a squad with great potential is very good. But it is also important and a beautiful responsibility for the trust that the club has given me, to be a coach in this DTA with this squad.

What style of play are we going to see in Auriblanco?

Beyond what one likes, one must also accommodate the players that are out there. I like the dynamic game and take advantage of the occupation of spaces. Within that we will try to be practical and look for the best options, valuing the individualities that we have. We will seek to have defensive alternatives to be able to neutralize the rival.

How has the preparation for the tournament been and how is the team a few days before its debut despite starting with a free date?

Within what touched us, we prepared well. I say this because only since last Thursday we have the complete squad and there are still some that we have with an injury. But we know that there are several teams that are in the same condition. Having a free date clearly suits us.

What are the goals set for this season?

We want to be as competitive as possible, knowing that there are two teams that, for me, are above the rest. This does not mean that we do not have the illusion of being able to fight for promotion, we are going to have to work hard, but we will fight for it.

A message that you want to leave the “papal” fan?

A little what I told you before, we are going to try to do things in the best way to be able to achieve good things. Hopefully we can, we know that the people of “Auri” will accompany in the best way and that gives us confidence.
