Huertas, after receiving the EFE award: “I’m still hungry” – Basketball – ABC Color

La Laguna (Tenerife), Sep 8.- The Lenovo Tenerife base Marcelinho Huertas has collected this Wednesday the award that accredits him as Best Latin American Player on the continent, a distinction that does not suppose any roof because he is still “hungry” and continues wanting “to play at the highest level with the aim of making another memorable season.”

In a ceremony held at the Santo Domingo Guzmán Convent in La Laguna (Tenerife), the Sports Director of the EFE Agency, Luis Villarejo, presented the award to the Brazilian star.

In his second year with the island team, Huertas has received his second consecutive award for best Latin American player, proof that he feels “at home” in Tenerife.

“They have been two very good years but it is difficult to say that they are the two best of my career, what I can assure you is that I have fitted in perfectly on this island”, he pointed out.

For the Brazilian, the next challenge is “to continue to have ambition and face challenges as something exciting”, something he shares with the rest of the staff because all the components of Lenovo Tenerife have the same philosophy.

The player believes that the squad of the Aurinegro team is “as good as last year” and therefore believes that it is possible to continue fighting for the high positions of the Endesa League.

“We do not know what the limit is, we have shown that we are going to always compete and annoy the greats and if we have the option to fight for the titles we will do it,” he said.

The first opportunity to continue fighting for this will be the Endesa Super Cup of which they act as hosts and in which they will try to surprise Real Madrid in the semifinals of the first day of this Saturday, September 11.

For being his second award and for his vast career in the category, Huertas acts as a benchmark for all Latin American players who come to the league. “People who have been in a place for more years have this role, they are people who tend to become mirrors, perhaps I can be, but it is up to them to say it,” he mentioned.

After receiving the award, the point guard heard a congratulatory message from his family, a fundamental pillar that has exercised “constant support in the most difficult moments” and that have helped him “focus” on his career goals.
