So he remembered Orlando Torrero its beginnings in the college basketball, who originally from Ensenada, Baja California, arrived in the capital of Nuevo León with only 17 years.

The opportunity came during a basketball game in which, representing his state, he was summoned by the coach Ignacio Moreno for the tryouts of Monterrey campus.

“In 2015 I came to Tec representing Baja California in the national Olympiad. I did a good job. At the end of the tournament my coach told me that Ignacio Moreno asked for me.

“Later I received an email from the coach ‘Nacho’ inviting me to the tests to train with the team and see the possibility of a scholarship. At the end of it he offered me the opportunity ”, counted.

“I did not know the great sports history of Tec until I got here. He also didn’t know that they weren’t national champions since 2007.

“So when in 2019 we returned to Tec the championship at the National Universiade in Yucatán, it was ‘wow’. What a father that I was part of it. It fills me with emotion ”, commented.

“The tournament was this year in El Paso, Texas, and Hatcher, Arizona. We meet runners-up and it was a practice tour to prepare for the 2022 Universiade in China, He said.

Torrero is originally from Ensenada, Baja California.

A few days from graduate from professional, Orlando Torrero prepares to study a Master of Tec and continue on the court as a basketball sheep.
