With great enthusiasm and emotion, the matches corresponding to the National Final of the North Central Basketball League are taking place, an important sports instance that has Illapel as its headquarters.
Last Wednesday, February 2, in the municipal gym of the commune, the official inauguration of the contest was held, which is organized by the “Halcones” club of Illapel and supported by the Municipality and the Municipal Sports and Recreation Corporation (Cordep ).
In addition to the local “Halcones”, the Santiago Wanderers (Valparaíso), Cexaec (Antofagasta), Deportes Concepción and CAV (Rancagua) clubs are participating in the National Final of the North Central Basketball League.
The mayor of Illapel, Denis Cortés Aguilera, commented that “we are happy to be able to have delegations from outside our community who come to participate in sports, but also to get to know our city because sports are also part of tourism and the healthy life that we want to develop as a Municipality”. He also added that “we are happy to be able to collaborate, both in logistics and in monetary contributions for the development of this activity.”
On the other hand, the president of the Illapel Basketball Association (ABI), Juan Pablo Figueroa, stated that “it is a dream come true for us to have teams of this quality here in Illapel, and happy to have called so many people, we are We are very grateful to the children of Falcon Eventos, Club Halcones, the Municipality of Illapel and the Sports Corporation for having supported us and believed that this was a great advance for Illapelino basketball”.
The community of Illapel and the province of Choapa are invited to attend the sporting events that will take place until Saturday, February 5 at the Illapel municipal gym, to find out which team will be crowned basketball champion in the north central zone of our country.
