San Isidro won again, a third consecutive victory in the Argentine League and the dream of qualifying that still stands. In supplementary he defeated Colón de Santa Fe 78 to 73 and now he will travel to Santiago del Estero and Chaco with a mental push.
In the 23rd game of the season for San Isidro in the Regular Phase of the Argentine League, red had the obligation to win and he achieved it by beating Colón de Santa Fe in the “Nido”.
The victory of the “saint” continues to fuel his dream of qualifying for the playoffs. For the first time in all of 2021 he managed to string together three wins and to access the postseason he will have to go for more in the five games he has yet to complete.
In the game, the Falcons had good percentage bursts in the first quarter with Gómez Quintero as the main weapon, accompanied by Juan Cruz Oberto. The “sabalero” was always in a match, between Gutiérrez, Ríos and Bombino each shared goals by presenting a fight in San Francisco.
In the third quarter the Red Hawks had their best passage. Anthony Jonhson took over the two boards and Nicolás Solari with two practically consecutive triples were essential to take a 9 lead, 45-36 with 5:47 left in that period. Colón did not lower his arms and searched for them with attacks to get back into play, facing the last 10 minutes 54-48.
With a quick partial of 5-0, the red got the maximum of the night (+11) that until remaining 6 minutes could maintain. Colón returned to row from behind and in the blink of an eye he found himself only 5 (61-56 with 2:40 left).
Those of Ricardo De Cecco did not give anything away, Ignacio Fernández recovered a decisive ball to add two more and with 43 seconds to put his team down 64 to 62. San Isidro sinned with his lack of intelligence in the closings and Ríos managed to equalize things at 64 to go to overtime.
In the extra 5 minutes, mistakes took over the night once again. Nervousness gained ground until Gómez Quintero took a three-point shot on the edge of possession, followed by a double from Oberto for a decisive 71-66. It was a victory for the Falcons, 78 to 73 in supplementary suffering more than necessary.
Now San Isidro will travel to Santiago del Estero to face Independiente de Santiago del Estero next Sunday. After this commitment, on Tuesday 29, he will appear in Resistencia (Chaco) to face Villa San Martín. On Saturday the 3rd in Villa María against Ameghino and he will repeat the duel but in the “Nido” on Monday 5. There is still to be scheduled with Deportivo Norte de Armstrong.
