Embiid has 50-point night in less than 30 minutes

Wednesday night will be recorded in the memory of the Cameroonian Joel Embid and the NBA record books.

In the game against the Orlando Magic, the center of the Philadelphia 76ers scored fifty points in just 27:03 minutes on the court.

His contribution helped the Sixers beat the Magic 123-110 for their eighth win in the last 10 games. He also added 12 rebounds and three blocks; he went 17-for-23 from the field and 15-for-17 from free throws.

According to data from ESPN Stats & Info, the All-Star’s 50 points in 27:03 represents the second-shortest on-court time to score that number during the clock era. The swingman of the Golden State Warriors, Klay Thompson, got the same amount (50) but in 26:33 minutes during a game held on October 29, 2018.

Thompson himself has another similar mark. In 2016 he scored 60 units during 29:03 on the court.

Embiid is now the eighth player to rank 4 or 5 in NBA history with multiple 50-point games, joining legends of the caliber of Patrick Ewing, Hakeem Olajuwon and Dirk Nowitzki, all of them with two games of 50 points each.

The next step for the 76ers center will be to reach David Robinson and the Shaq, who throughout their Association career recorded 3 50-point nights; away, for now the marks of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, with 10 games and Wilt Chamberlain, who had 118 games with that number.

Although Joel does share a mark with Wilt, as they are the only Sixers players with multiple 50-point, 10-rebound games; Chamberlain had 11.
