Doncic (ankle) misses Mavs-Grizzlies game

DALLAS – The star of the Dallas Mavericks, Luka doncic, he will miss Saturday night’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies, the second night of a back-to-back, for what the team says is pain in his left ankle.

Doncic missed three straight games last month due to sprained ankle and knee. Dallas lost all three challenges.

The 22-year-old showed moments of discomfort in Friday’s 107-91 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans, a third straight loss at home. No injury was mentioned after the game.

Dallas plays the Grizzlies at home to complete a three-game span over four nights. The Mavericks will have two days off before welcoming Kevin Durant, James harden and the Brooklyn Nets.

Memphis will not have the point guard Ja morant for the fourth consecutive game due to a sprained left knee. Morant was the second overall pick in the draft in 2019, a year after Doncic was third overall.

The Grizzlies will play for the first time since setting an NBA record with a 73-point margin of victory in a 152-79 win at home against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Mavericks will also be without Kristaps Porzingis for the second game in a row due to a contusion to his left knee. Coach Jason Kidd said Porzingis was injured Monday in a win at New Orleans.

The center Willie Cauley-Stein he will miss his fourth consecutive game, the last three of which have been for personal reasons.
