Chile expands life insurance requirement to participating national teams

The organization of the second phase of the pre-qualifier for the FIBA World Cup Philippines-Japan-Indonesia 2023 and the Government of Chile announced the expansion of the demands and requirements for the participation of the four teams, being that now all registered players must have insurance of life.

This requirement comes hand in hand with the new sanitary measures established in the trans-Andean nation before the arrival of the delta variant of coronavirus, as reported by the Bolivian Basketball Federation (FBB).

In accordance with the requirements of the health bubble in Chile, the teams of Nicaragua, Paraguay, Bolivia and the host must present a certificate that endorses the life insurance of each player (14 registered) and technical bodies, this apart from the fact that all must arrive with negative PCR tests on the day of your arrival and subsequent follow-up.

This new requirement mobilized the FBB, an entity that has already contacted several insurers to obtain individual policies and comply with the requirements.

The new measures promoted by the Chilean Government are also a guarantee for the development of this tournament, which ratified its dates (July 13 to 15) due to rumors about the possible postponement or change of venue.

While this small tournament is being prepared in Chile and with the participating teams, from today the other group of the second phase of the pre-qualifier is being developed, based in San Salvador.

El Salvador, Bahamas, Costa Rica and Cuba will play for the two tickets that this window grants for Division A of FIBA Americas.

Of the four, the Bahamas and Cuba seek permanence in Division A; the remaining two aspire to ascend.

In the group of Santiago, Chile and Paraguay plan to ratify their places before the applicants Bolivia and Nicaragua.
