Capital was consecrated provincial champion in men’s basketball

After defeating the representative of Santa Lucía by 60-43 in the final, the basketball team from the capital was crowned champion of the provincial phase of the discipline (male 5 v 5, Under 17 category) of the 2021 Correntino Games, qualifying for the Games del Norte Grande that will be played next October in La Rioja.

The provincial day of the men’s basketball discipline 5 v 5 (Sub17) was played at the Colón Club in the capital city, with the participation of the teams from: Capital, Santa Lucía and Mercedes.

The organization of this event was in charge of the Sports Secretariat of the Government of the Province with articulation of the participating communes.

In this way, Capital (Club Regatas Corrientes) prevailed in the closing triangle, and will represent the Province of Corrientes in the “Northern Games”.

It should be noted that the day of this Thursday was completed with the men’s soccer matches played in the provincial interior and in the Capital, where San Miguel and Mercedes agreed to play the final qualifying match in La Rioja.

These “2021 Correntinos Games”, reduced due to the pandemic, are aimed at young people in the U17 category, in the disciplines: Soccer, 5 vs 5 Basketball and Indoor Volleyball (Modality: Female and Male).

From the Sports Secretariat, it is reported that 71 municipalities in the interior were invited to participate in the qualifying stages for the Norte Grande Games.

Of these 71 invited municipalities, 35 of them agreed to participate. (There are 200 teams, and about 2000 participants in three stages: local, zonal and provincial).

Of those 2000 participants, 90 athletes will be selected for the three disciplines in the branches: female and male.

The objective, as highlighted, is to form the best possible U17 representative in sports: Soccer, Basketball and Volleyball, (female and male), and that the Corrientes delegation displays a good performance in the Norte Grande Games.
