The basketball team of Spain, which will be Argentina’s rival in the Tokyo Olympics, this afternoon crushed his pair of Iran, by 96 to 53, in a friendly preparation held in the city of Madrid.
At the so-called Wizink Center in the Spanish capital, the team led by coach Sergio Scariolo offered its high range of game variants against an opponent who could only get on his feet in the first quarter.
The Italian coach also took advantage of the test to give him shooting 17 of the 18 players currently in the squad, before refining the final list of twelve for the Olympic event that will begin on Friday 23.
The shipowner Ricky Rubio (Minnesota Timberwolves) served in the starting five and contributed 10 points to become the top scorer of the world champion quintet. Meanwhile, the experienced intern Pau Gasol (41 years old), last in Barcelona, scored 9 points, entering from the relay bench. The Spanish representative will intervene in zone C of the Olympic competition and will face Argentina on Thursday 29 of the current, at 9:00 p.m. local time (9:00 Argentine time), in the Super Arena in the city of Saitama.
