94-93. The final defense gives its first pre-season win to Fuenlabrada – Basketball – ABC Color

Madrid, Aug 31 (EFE) .- A good final defense in the last possession of the game gave Fuenlabrada its first victory of the preseason in a tight final against Hereda San Pablo Burgos (94-93) played behind closed doors in the Fernando Martín Pavilion.

The Madrid team returned the toast to Burgos from their previous confrontation a week ago, in which the pupils of the Croatian Zan Tabak also prevailed by a narrow marker (92-94). The Burgos chain their second consecutive defeat, after Friday’s against Bilbao Basket in Gijón (59-68).

Urbas Fuenlabrada was able to count on their new scoring reference for the first time, the American guard Sean Armand, who debuted with 11 points. The Congolese forward Christian Eyenga (7 points) and the Nigerian guard Obi Emegano (11) played for the first time this preseason, but as in Burgos the figure was the Brazilian Leo Meindl, with 24 points and 5 rebounds.

Dani Díez (21 points and 8 rebounds) and the Brazilian Vitor Benite (18), who executed precisely that last play with the ball in favor and 5 seconds ahead in which he failed to resolve against the defense of the power forward, shone for the visitors. American Kwan Cheatham.

Those of Josep María Raventós dominated the first half and made a move to take off at the break, reaching eight goals (54-46), but it was in the third quarter when they reached a ten lead (67-56, min. 25).

Burgos, with an outpouring at the beginning of the last quarter, got into the game with a partial 2-11 (77-75, min. 33), although the locals tried to stretch again, pushed by a Meindl that put them six up with two minutes remaining (92-88), but a triple by Xavi Rabaseda and a layup by Benite adjusted to 94-93 in the last 30 seconds.

Armand did not hit a very forced triple with the defense of Suleiman Braimoh, neither did Benite against Cheatham, and Fuenlabrada added their first victory of the preseason. His next appointment will be the weekend, at the Getafe (Madrid) tournament against Baskonia and Tenerife; while Burgos will have their fourth friendly on Friday against Gran Canaria in Madrid.
