87-75. CB Sant Antoni continues unstoppable

Class Bàsquet Sant Antoni is becoming a very reliable team every time. The team coached by Carles Flores achieved their fifth victory of the season, also in a row, by beating a combative Recambios Gaudí Mollet (87-75) in the match played at the Sa Pedrera Pavilion.

The islanders gave a new victory, with moments of great basketball, to the 700 spectators who gave color to the stands. Vinicius Da Silva, with 19 points and 10 rebounds, was the best of those from Portmany, while Guillem Sabatés replied with another 19 points for the visitors.

The locals, aware of the importance of the match, came out plugged in and won the first quarter 19-13. Those from Flores took control of the game and the score, but Mollet never lost their way. So much so that in the second act he was about to take the lead.

Like little ants, the Catalans were cutting the deficit to 22-21 with a basket from Soto. But a Jonats three-pointer stopped the visitors, making it 25-21. Grimau, with another basket of three, made it 28-21 and Medori, with two more points, made it 30-21. But Mollet reacted with a 0-6 run to make it 30-27. In the exchange of blows, Portmany’s team emerged victorious and left at halftime 42-32.

In the third quarter, Sant Antoni wanted to get the win back on track, because after the corresponding ten minutes they had taken off on the scoreboard. A +19 advantage (70-51) that seemed to sentence the clash. Nothing is further from reality. Mollet was going to sell his defeat dearly and Sant Antoni was going to relax a bit.

And that the Balearic Islands came to be sending 20 (75-55). The Catalans never lost faith and with two minutes left they were only nine points behind (82-73). After a loss, Flores called a timeout to avoid the scare. But the people from San Antonio managed the final stretch better, with a great De la Rúa, and sealed the victory.
