70-104. Murcia imposes its physique against an unknown Obradoiro – Basketball – ABC Color

Santiago de Compostela, Oct 16 (EFE) .- UCAM Murcia, with a remarkable physical exercise and a lot of offensive success, overwhelmed an unknown Monbus Obradoiro (70-104) this Saturday, in a game that the visitors left sentenced to rest.

The Galician coach, Moncho Fernández, had warned in the previous one that his team’s options would go through matching the intensity of his rival, and at no time did he succeed. Murcia imposed its law from the beginning, with a defensive aggressiveness that choked Obradoiro.

Relying on that tough defense, on their offensive rebounds (5 in the first quarter) and on the success of Sadiel Rojas and Isaiah Taylor, Sito Alonso’s team quickly took off, forcing the Santiago coach to request a timeout (8-18 ). It was of little use. His team was unable to match the physical battle that his rival posed, and only the Lithuanian Laurynas Birutis saw a hoop.

The visiting advantage continued to increase in the second quarter, mainly due to the notable difference in the accuracy from the three-point line. Obradoiro reached the break (32-55, min 20) with a very poor 1/7 from the perimeter and his rival reached the equator with seven triples, with a lethal James Webb.

Nothing changed in the resumption, despite the fact that the santiagueses increased their intensity. McFadden and Taylor continued to punish Obradoiro’s defense, who found in Ellenson the solution to his offensive jam although it was not even enough to get close on the scoreboard, to the despair of a Moncho Fernández who would end up expelled for his protests.
