Yankees: Brian Cashman Confirms He’s ‘No Longer an Employee of the Team’ What’s Next for Him?

Many fans of the New York Yankees were waiting for the season finale press conference that had been announced a few days ago, wheree finally the manager Aaron Boone and above all, the GM Brian Cashman they would face after failure in the MLB playoffs after being swept up in the Championship Series by the Houston Astros. There are many questions heading into the 2023 season, including Cashman’s own future.

The truth is that one of the changes that Yankees fans were crying out for was the departure of Cashman himself, and in the Bronx press conference that at this time he is no longer an employee of the Bronx Bombers and that his contract expired on October 31, but that the possibility of returning is more than open, with owner Hal Steinbrenner expressing that he would like to have him back as GM.

I had a brief conversation with Hal Steinbrenner, my contract expired on October 31st, and he told me we were going to talk about it, expressing an interest in having me back. Obviously I would love to stay, but we haven’t had any further conversations, he has a lot to do in relation to other work situations with other employees, but we’ll talk about it in due course.

Cashman is the GM with the longest time in charge of a team in all the Major Leagues, being in his position since the 1998 season and even his stay in the Yankees dates back much further, entering the organization as an intern in 1986 and rising to the position of assistant to the GM in 1992.

I started as a rookie at Al Bat in early 2018 and am in my third season covering Major League Baseball as a web reporter. I’m a fan of the San Francisco Giants, number one defender of Barry Bonds, and hater of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Fernando Tatis Jr., Juan Soto and Ronald Acuña are the future of baseball, Mike Trout is overrated, and the Astros deserved to have the World Series taken from them for their cheating. Besides baseball, I also enjoy football, flag football, basketball, and just about any other game that involves a ball or ball. I’m also an amateur musician, a penniless gamer and very nerdy. Graduated in journalism from the University of Guadalajara, I graduated in 2017. Born in the world capital of shrimp, Escuinapa, Sinaloa. I lived for a while in Australia; I survived giant spiders, tasmanian devils and fought a kangaroo and didn’t die trying.
