From December 1, 2021, MLB entered his first work stoppage since the 1994 strike after it expired the joint contract between the players’ union, the MLBPA and team owners. Although it is in the best of the interests of both parties to negotiate in good faith to end the work stoppage as soon as possible, apparently there is no will to do so, at least for now.

According to information from Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the year 2022 entered and apparently there has been no rapprochement between the MLBPA and the owners, as there is no meeting scheduled at the beginning of the year, having met only twice in December. to discuss non-economic issues, which are the truly important in this work stoppage.

It had been reported that at the beginning of this 2022 the meetings between both parties would begin to discuss economic issues as soon as possible, but all this at the moment is “very cold”, with only some statements from some players who are representatives of the union like Lucas Giolito or Marcus Semien in the media.

These players mention that the MLBPA made a “reasonable” offer to the MLB owners before the deadline expired, but that the owners decided to reject it and impose a work stoppage to put pressure on the players.
