Santo Domingo Dominican Republic. January 29, 2022 (www.CBPC.com).- An inspired day for Venezuelan pitching, Yohander Manuel Méndez led from the mound the five-run shutout against the Mexican team. Méndez and four relievers combined to weave the shutout on this second day of activities of the Caribbean Series.

This triumph allows Venezuela to put its record at one won and one lost, while this was the second defeat for Mexico.

Venezuela attacked quickly, a two-run double by Danry Vázquez, a board through the middle at the end of the third episode, made it 2-0 in favor of the Venezuelan squad. Immediately Balbino Fuenmayor with a single to center brought the third run, which marked the departure of Mexican starter Manny Barreda who could not shine on the pitching mound.

For Mexico, Manny Barreda (0-1) allowed three runs in 2 1/3 innings. Alemao Hernández followed with two thirds, Alexandro Tovalín a two-hit inning. Irwin Delgado one run in a third with three hits, David Gutierrez one inning and two thirds of a run. Daniel Duarte a chapter of two hits and finished Jake Sánchez.

This Sunday, Venezuela will face Puerto Rico at 3:00 in the afternoon, before Mexico will face Colombia at 10:00 in the morning.
