The Braves made a huge mistake at the level of GOB Bluth by severing ties with Adam duvall last offseason. Duvall he played a huge role in Atlanta’s offense three years earlier, but apparently, that wasn’t enough for the Braves to keep him close to spring training. He signed with division rival Miami Marlins and became a thorn in the side of Braves Country until he was traded.
Dansby swanson
While the Braves They’ve done a great job of reaching out to players, young and old, one guy who could be in free agency relatively soon is shortstop Dansby Swanson. The Marietta, Georgia native has played his entire Major League career in an Atlanta uniform. Although he hasn’t been an All-Star for the Braves in six seasons, his bat has finally been as good as it was while at Vanderbilt.
Like Duvall, Swanson he is eligible for arbitration this winter and will not reach unrestricted free agency until 2023. What makes this issue all the more urgent is that Swanson is still on the bright side of his 30s. Yes, he may want to keep playing for his hometown team above all else, but once a star player like him hits free agency, money talks. The Braves could be cheap.
The other big clue besides Swanson being in the midst of his prime is that he has formed an excellent midfield tandem with All-Star second baseman Ozzie Albies. Although Albies is clearly the better of the two players, they have improved each other playing side by side over the past few seasons. It would be an absolute shame if that came to an end after the next major league season.
Freddie freeman
If this does not happen, Braves Country should rebel. Freddie freeman he’s been the face of the franchise since Chipper Jones retired and he shouldn’t be allowed to wear another major league uniform. Freeman is the reigning MVP of the National League and is putting up monster numbers once again for the Braves. The fact that he remains unsigned heading into free agency doesn’t sit well with his fans.
You will not find a more accomplished professional than Freeman at first base. He embodies everything you could ask for when it comes to The Braves Way. Atlanta can count on him to play 162 first-base games a year, or to the best of his ability, as well as get out of bed and hit .300 from the left side of the plate. He is the cornerstone of the franchise to invest in.
