Once the lockout of the MLB and negotiations are resumed, New York Yankees they must make a crucial decision regarding what they will do with the shortstop position.
In the management of New York they are faced with a dilemma. It’s critical to hand over the position to someone other than Gleyber Torres, who will handle second base.
But they have several ways to solve the situation. One is to go to the exchange market, or sign one of the free agents available in the Big leagues, with Carlos Correa as the first option.

The alternative is to sign a player on a short-term deal, waiting for Anthony Volpe, their No. 1 prospect on the farms, to finish his development and take over as the starter. For this, however, it could take a couple of years.
In the Bronx, they have gone 12 seasons without going to the World Series and that is an eternity for the franchise with the most titles in the Major Leagues. The fans claim and the management headed by Brian Cashman knows that it is obliged to take action.

Although the Yankees have several departments that must be strengthened and want to stay below the luxury tax threshold, the scenario forces them to pay for Correa, a star who will take them back to the fight for a title.
It won’t be cheap, since the Puerto Rican who just won his first Gold Glove has made his economic aspirations clear. He wants a contract for 10 years and more than 300 million dollars and the Yankees are forced to take out the checkbook.
Meanwhile, Volpe, whom they see as a future star, could be an excellent trade piece for when they need mid-season reinforcements heading into the playoffs.
