Stories to follow for the day today

Tuesday’s day was really exciting. At the end of it all, it was assured that we will have more games to enjoy. More baseball.

We will have two more games on Wednesday and, due to what happened on Tuesday, we already know that neither will define the series. But that doesn’t detract from any of the duels.

Each set arrives with a story worth witnessing. Here, the most important thing for each club for the day on Wednesday.

SCLA Game 5: Astros visit Red Sox, series tied 2-2

Astros: Has the offense woken up enough to make up for the lack of pitching?

The Astros, by the start of the eighth inning Tuesday, appeared to be in the worst possible scenario. After Zack Greinke could only pitch 1.1 innings, they had to rely on a worn out bullpen. But the relievers got the job done, completing 5.2 blanks. However, on the other hand, Nick Pivetta had limited visiting bats to just one run. Until Venezuelan José Altuve arrived and tied the game with a home run in the eighth inning; a hit that opened the doors to a fierce attack from Houston, which produced seven lines in the ninth.

In an important Game 5, it seems necessary for the Astros to score seven times in an episode again. Framber Valdez will have to have a much better start than in Game 1, when he completed just 2.2 stretches. The Astros need the Dominican because that kind of offensive reaction doesn’t happen every day.

Red Sox: How Much Will Chris Sale Bring?

For most of the last decade, if someone asked, “Which pitcher would you like to have in a big Game 5?” Sale would have been in the top five answers. But that began to change in 2019, when he had a 4.40 ERA before undergoing Tommy John surgery. He looked better when he returned at the end of the 2021 regular season, but hasn’t had a good playoffs.

Sale was penalized in Game 2 of the SDLA against the Rays and in Game 1 of the SCLA against the Astros. His main problem has been his slow speed pitching; especially when you don’t tend to throw with the same force as before. Sale has had his great moments with Boston and Game 5 is presented as a new opportunity to add another.

SCLN Game 4: Braves visit Dodgers, Atlanta leads series 2-1

Braves: Nobody, absolutely nobody, remember 2020

Loyal fans of Atlanta teams know the painful history of their professional teams. Up 5-2 against the mighty Dodgers, just five outs from taking a 3-0 lead in the SCLN, Cody Bellinger hit a game-tying home run in the Dodgers’ eventual victory.

With a bullpen day on Wednesday from the Braves, suddenly the Dodgers appear to be in a good position to come back in the series. Last year, the Braves squandered 2-0, 3-1 SCLN leads against Los Angeles, but this is no time to remember that.

Dodgers: How many times can you depend on Urías?

Mexico’s Julio Cesar Urías has been a vital part of the Dodgers pitching staff, particularly in the postseason. So much so that it seems easy to forget that he is barely 25 years old. Manager Dave Roberts seems to go for the Culiacan native whenever he needs him. Now, Urías will start Game 4 despite coming out as a reliever in the second game.

You would think that, even in a game as important as this, it would be wise to limit the Mexican’s load, considering that Roberts will most likely use him again in the series.
