SIGNING IN JAPAN could benefit Candelita Iglesias in MLB free agency

In the coming days, Jose Iglesias it could increase your chances of finding a team for the 2022 Major League Baseball season. The reason is that, according to Yahoo! Japan, shortstop Freddy Galvis would be very close to signing a contract with the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks, to go play in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB, its acronym in English). That would take away the competition from the Cuban shortstop.

Candelita’s market cannot be compared with that of stars like Trevor Story, Carlos Correa, Corey Seager, Javier Báez or Marcus Semien. His level is a few steps lower, in the company of, for example, Galvis, Jonathan Villar, Jordy Mercer and even Andrelton Simmons, although the latter may be at a higher level for his brilliant defense.

Nevertheless, Galvis seems to be the strongest direct competitor for the Cuban shortstop. If his signature is finalized, Iglesias could become the most sought-after shortstop once the aforementioned stars sign, of which Semien, Báez and Seager have already found clubs for the next few years. The best thing is that, according to the Yahoo! publication, the handshake between Galvis and Fukuoka should be a fact in the coming days, as the Japanese club is being reinforced with experienced Major League players.

Churches will play the incoming season with 32 springs, age that will turn on January 5. If he finds a set to continue his career in the Big Top, it would be his eleventh major league tournament with what could be his sixth team. Iglesias has a tour with the Detroit Tigers, the Los Angeles Angels and the Anaheim Angels, the Cincinnati Reds, the Baltimore Orioles and the Boston Red Sox, a club with which he spent two terms.

In the atmosphere, there is some speculation and perception that the experienced Cuban will return to Fenway Park with the Red Sox, after a superb offensive display in the final part of the 2022 season with Boston. In just 23 games, Candelita had 21 hits, including four doubles, a triple and a home run, plus seven RBIs, eight runs scored, three walks and a .356 / .406 / .508 offensive line.
