Reason why Miguel Cabrera should go to the World Classic (Opinion)

Since the next throb World Baseball Classic 2023 of the MLBthere is the unknown as to whether Miguel Cabrera must represent Venezuela in the aforementioned event and here is an opinion with some reasons that show that he should be part of the team.

Miguel Cabrera for the 2023 World Classic (if it happens) will be almost 40 years old and Venezuela will have a star-studded team ahead of the appointment, taking into account that there are names in his position, but this player should not be underestimated, and this for all his career, achievements, numbers and others in Major League Baseball.

Some reasons

  • Leadership: A veteran of a thousand battles and with his experience, he will be the right voice for the Venezuelan team in the World Classic. Cabrera is undoubtedly an inspiration and example for young players who will surely be on that roster, such as Ronald Acuña Jr., Gleyber Torres and Willson Contreras.
  • capabilities: Miguel Cabrera is a top player in the world of baseball so despite his age, you can’t question him, if he stays healthy and at his level, he could easily do his bit. In addition, in events with these, we reiterate, experience is necessary.
  • close high: Miggy has two years left on his contract and representing Venezuela could undoubtedly be a great window to conclude his brilliant professional career in a great way. In addition, Venezuela could paint as one of the favorites for the occasion, since important things are always expected from this Latin country.
  • I respect: Even if he is not a starter and the opportunity is given to him as a pinch hitter or whatever the role, this player is a horse that, being in the batter’s box, imposes authority over any pitcher, so he must be part of that roster.
  • History: Miggy is the Venezuelan with the best records in the MLB, more home runs, hits, games, etc., such as leaving out a player who could easily be the best in the history of this country.

People have criticized and called Cabrera old, assuring that he has nothing to do in the 2023 World Classic with Venezuela, they place him as a coach and not as a baseball player (in all burlesque), but age does not make a player, many have played up to considerable years and an example is Julio Franco, who retired at the age of 48 from the Majors.

I give credit to Jorge Pignoloni, because thanks to a tweet, I was born to write this opinion.

Cabrera was with Venezuela in the Clásico of 2006, 2009, 2013 and 2017, being essential for the team in all of them despite not reaching the championship.

Do you agree with me?
