OFFICIAL: Cuban Federation ANNOUNCED new contracts and clarified controversy

By Yasel Porto

Several players who participate in the current baseball season in its 60th edition are already guaranteed their participation in future professional leagues. At least start in them because everyone knows that in many of these contests a contract can be broken at the end of the month without the need to wait until the end of the championship.

According to information published by colleague Reynier Batista on his official website and shared in my group D’Porto Sports, so far there are a total of twelve players who will soon pack their bags to play outside of Cuba with FCB as official representative.

The Saraperos de Saltillo of the Mexican Professional League were interested in the services of Las Tunas pitcher Carlos Juan Viera, Santiago outfielder Yoelkis Guibert and Holguín shortstop Yordan Manduley. Another club from that country with a trio of Cubans for the start of the competition are the Olmecas de Tabasco, with whom the cousins Roel and Raico Santos will be, as well as the left-handed pitcher from Matanzas Yoenni Yera.

In the old continent, three have been made official so far to play in Italian baseball. These are the cases of Industriales third baseman Jorge Luis Barcelán, together with Mayabeque pitcher Yadián Martínez and experienced Matanzas right-hander Joel Suárez.

The same information from Batista relates the names of Camagüey pitcher Frank Madan and catcher and first baseman from Las Tunas Rafael Viñales within the Major League of Venezuela.

That is in the case of the players because it is known that several coaches have traveled and will travel to different places. On February 15, former second baseman Alexander Ramos will leave the island to begin his career in Italian professional baseball.

The FCB made it clear that although the athletes are authorized to manage the contracts on their own, after they are finalized they must have the signature of the Cuban institution that would receive a percentage for what the player earns with the club. In other words, for a player to participate in any league, being part of the National Series, the only agent or representation company allowed is the FCB. For any other more individual variant there would be no authorization at the moment staying in any of the domestic teams.
