The New York Mets continue to work with the intention of assembling a competitive team for the 2022 MLB season, for this they took advantage of free agency and reached an agreement with versatile players Eduardo Escobar and Mark Canha, according to reports Jon Heymar and Jeff Passan.
According to the information published by Heyman, the contract between de Escobar would be for two years in exchange for $ 25 million dollars. In turn, Joel Sherman indicated that the Venezuelan’s contract includes the option of a third year.
Escobar, 32, is coming off a great year with the Milwaukee Brewers in which he posted a .253 batting average with 28 home runs, 90 RBIs, 77 runs scored, a stolen base and a .786 OPS.
Before the doubt that arose in the fans of the Mets and baseball in general, Heymar clarified that despite this movement, the New York team will continue trying to acquire the services of the Puerto Rican Javy Báez.
Mets sign outfielder Mark Canha
For their part, the Mets also made a deal with veteran outfielder Mark Canha, for two years and $ 26.5 million dollars plus a third-year option, if the team so chooses.
Canha is coming off an underperforming year in which he hit .231 with 17 homers, 61 RBIs and 93 scored, all wearing the Oakland Athletics uniform.
