The mules’ left-handed bat has the option of exercise one more year of contract in exchange for $16 million dollars, or, become a free agent.

Before Game 1 of the series against the Baltimore Orioles on Friday, Rizzo said he won’t let that question enter his mind right now, as he doesn’t plan to until winter. “In early November I’m going to sit down with my agents. We’ve talked, and I still have no interest in going down that path, talking about it. Just because I’m so focused on staying healthy and getting ready for the postseason.” The 33-year-old first baseman told NJ Advance Media.

Rizzo clarified that during the season and a half that he has been a Bombers player, he has enjoyed it to the fullest. She exclaimed that she loves New York City and the organization in general, so it could be understood that it is a good sign that she accepts the deal on the clause to wear stripes in 2023.

In 126 games this year, Rizzo tied the record for most home runs in a season with 32 homers. He has a .226 batting average with 75 RBIs and an .829 OPS.
