MLB: Twins protect and list 40 to six of their prospects

Minnesota Twins added to a total of six prospects to his roster of 40 men Prior to the Rule 5 draft protection tonight Friday night deadline: Royce Lewis, José Miranda, Blayne Enlow, Cole Sands, Chris Vallimont, and Josh Winder.

Most of the Twins’ additions are not surprising at all. Lewis was the first overall pick in 2017 and despite missing the season due to a torn ACL, he would never be exposed to the Ryle 5 Draft. Miranda was the Twins’ minor league player of the year and recorded video game numbers in the minors, making his way into the top 100:

Winder has battled injuries, but he could be Minnesota’s best pitching prospect based on things alone. Enlow was a third-round player who has had his own injury problems, but is still held in high regard. Sands and Vallimont are among the Twins’ most promising arms, despite Vallimont having a bad year in 2021.

The former Marlins right-hander, acquired in the trade that brought Sergio Romo to Minnesota and sent first baseman Lewin Diaz to Miami, is a potential fourth / fifth starter who is reasonably close to being ready for MLB.
