MLB: Three-for-one? Two pitchers and a Dodgers utility come out of the 40 roster

The Los Angeles Dodgers they removed three players from the 40-man roster tonight, the team reported. The relievers Scott Alexander and Jimmie Sherfy and utility Andy Burns have gone through unclaimed waivers. All three players have the right to become minor league free agents.

Alexander is the most notable of the bunch, having been a productive bullpen option for manager Dave Roberts when he was healthy. That’s a pretty significant qualifier though, as he hasn’t dwarfed twenty innings in any of the last three seasons:

Alexander posted a less than 4.00 ERA in all four seasons as a Dodger (and the previous two years with the Royals), but has been plagued with injuries in recent years.

The left-hander missed a good part of the 2019 season with forearm swelling, and he missed about four months of last season due to a shoulder problem.

I had the chance to attend the 2013 World Classic in Arizona, USA, albeit as a fan. In January 2009 I came to El Debate as a journalist reporter and it was almost six years (in the first stage), until in November 2014 I emigrated to the radio providing my services in Línea Directa-Grupo RSN. My cycle there ended in July 2019 and after a few days, El Debate gave me another opportunity to work and opened the doors for me again. That is how I came to Al Bat, where I have been since 2019 as a web journalist.
