MLB: Perseverance! Manny Barreda will be the longest-lived Mexican to debut in GL

The sayings that “it is never too late” and “Old the hills and they regreen” read well; the point is that the right pitcher Manny barreda the moment you get on the hill with the Baltimore Orioles, you become the player Oldest Mexican to debut in the Major Leagues with at least 32 years and 334 days (as of today Tuesday).

The right-hander veteran, but rookie in MLB will surpass the Sinaloan Ernesto ‘Chico’ Escárrega, who arrived at 32 years and 120 days, this in 1982 with the Chicago White Sox:

In 2009, another Sinaloan (Walter Silva) made his debut for the San Diego Padres at the age of 32 years and 94 days. The funny thing is that both Escárrega and Silva only drank their ‘cup of coffee’ in the ‘Great Tent’, since they were only in the season in question.

Barrera, 1.80 meters tall, will seek to break with that stigma and why not, establish himself in the so-called ‘Great Circus’. But while they are pears or apples, Manny will make history simply by throwing a ball with the O’s.

It has been 14 years since the first contact in professional minor league baseball in the USA and four since the last time (2017 with Atlanta Braves) and Barreda shows that he has no barriers to fulfill his dream of playing in the best baseball in the world .

Manuel Antonio Barreda -his full name-, born in Sahuarita, Arizona, although of Mexican parents, has 15 years on the pay ball, noting that Orioles is his fourth organization in MLB:

I am fond of the King of Sports, especially the Boston Red Sox in MLB and in general all of Mexican baseball. This profession has given me the opportunity to cover major events such as the Caribbean Series, LMB All Star, LMP (uninterrupted since 2009), signings of important players. I had the chance to attend the 2013 World Classic in Arizona, USA, albeit as a fan. Apart from this beautiful sport, I love basketball, where I have also narrated games and even an NBA friendly 10 years ago, but I carry baseball in my veins. Bachelor of Communication Sciences from the Autonomous University of Sinaloa (UAS) , from which I graduated in 2011. I was born in Mazatlán, Sinaloa and started in the world of sports journalism in 2004 in the newspaper El Sol de Mazatlán, where I was a baseball columnist and reporter at the same time. In January 2009 I came to El Debate as a journalist reporter and it was almost six years (in the first stage), until in November 2014 I emigrated to the radio providing my services in Línea Directa-Grupo RSN. My cycle there ended in July 2019 and after a few days, El Debate gave me another opportunity to work and opened the doors for me again. That is how I came to Al Bat, where I have been since 2019 as a web journalist.
