The Miami Marlins appear determined to finally compete next season of MLB, since they crave that they will be quite active this winter with various movements and looking for signatures, with the possible return of Starling Mars. However, they would also be moved in the exchange market, and apparently they would go for a young receiver with great projection for the future.
According to information from Jon Heyman of MLB Network and Jon Morosi of MLB.com, the Marlins would be very interested in putting together a trade with the Toronto Blue Jays for the Mexican catcher, Alejandro Kirk, with the same Blue Jays interested back in several Marlins pitchers like Pablo López and Elieser Hernández.
The change would benefit both parties, since the Blue Jays would see the Venezuelan Gabriel Moreno as their future catcher and not Kirk, who despite having done it in the minor leagues, in 2020 and 2021 has not had the expected continuity and the Blue Jays would prefer give it a go through a change and get young arms.
Kirk has played 69 major league games, hitting .259 / .336 / .455 with 9 home runs and 27 RBIs, accumulating a 114 OPS + and 1.1 WAR so far.
