The second baseman of the Cincinnati Reds, Jonathan India and the first baseman of the Baltimore Orioles, Ryan Mountcastle, were named as Most Outstanding Rookies in the National and American League, respectively, this within the 2021 Players Choice Award, where the MLB baseball guild is in charge of casting its votes for the players.
The fifth overall pick in the 2018 Draft had an outstanding debut season in the majors for the Reds, with an .835 OPS with 21 home runs and 12 steals in 150 games. His 3.9 WAR (FanGraphs) led all rookie position players in MLB:
Meanwhile, Mountcastle held firm after a call-up in August last year, and in 2021, he was able to show what he could do for a full season, hitting 33 home runs in 144 games for the Orioles. He really warmed up at the plate in the second half, hitting 19 of those home runs in just 232 at-bats.
